This document contains instructions for installing your Gemalto Sentinel SuperPro key so that you can use hardware-locked CrossWorks licenses. You only need to install the Sentinel drivers if you have purchased a 'Shared' developer license with a Sentinel SuperPro key.

Download the 'Sentinel Driver' from here. At the time of writing, the Sentinel driver for Windows is at version 7.6.0 described as 'Sentinel System Driver Installer for Sentinel SuperPro, UltraPro and SHK'

  1. Before starting, ensure that your USB Sentinel is unplugged.
  2. Unzip the archive and run the Sentinel System Driver Installer.
  3. Click Next to move to the licensing screen.
  4. Read and accept the License Grant/Warranty statement.
  5. Click I accept the terms in the license agreement.
  6. Click Next to move to the Setup Type screen.
  7. Select the Complete installation option.
  8. Click Next to start the installation. Once installed, the InstallShield Wizard completes.
  9. Click Finish to close the Sentinel driver Installer.
  10. Once completed reboot your machine and insert the USB dongle.
  11. To check that the Sentinel driver has installed correctly, go to the Windows device manager >Universal Serial Bus controllers you should seen an entry for 'SafeNet USB SuperPro/UltraPro'.

  3. Open a terminal window 'Ctrl + T' and change directory to the downloaded folder by default this is 'Downloads' in the home folder.

  5. Ensure that 'execute' permissions are added to the shell script sud_install.sh

Installing the USB Drivers - macOS

  1. Before starting, ensure that your USB Sentinel is unplugged.
  2. Download the 'Sentinel System Driver' from here.
  3. Run the installer and follow the installer instructions. When prompted by the installer, make sure you allow the system extension signed by “SFNT Germany GmbH” to load.
  4. Once the installer has completed, insert the USB Sentinel into your Mac and start CrossWorks.
  5. Check the hardware locked license is detected by CrossStudio by clicking Tools > License Manager > Manage Activations. You should see a product activation listed as 'Sentinel License'.

Xtend Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) is a Rapid Application Development toolkit with advanced features for implementing Interactive Voice Response Systems quickly and easily. Any Computerised Telephony Integration solution can be implemented with reduced cost, time and complexity using our toolkit.
2. What is the difference between the Standard and Developer Edition of Xtend IVR?
Standard Edition comprises of the development environment and the runtime capable of supporting the licensed number of ports. The standard edition is used for development and final production implementations of IVR solutions. The standard edition runtime allows complete customisability of the About box information and the main window bitmap as per user requirements. Standard Edition is priced and licensing is enforced via a USB dongle.
Developer Edition comprises of the development environment and a single port runtime. The developer edition is used to develop and demo an IVR solution using Xtend IVR. However, the developer edition runtime should not be used in final production implementations of IVR solutions. The runtime is full-fledged, supporting one telephone line and is not technically limited in anyway. However restrictions on customising the about box information and the main window bitmap are present. Developer Edition is available for free download.
3. How do I start Xtend IVR?
When you install the Xtend IVR toolkit (Standard or Developer) it will add desktop icons named 'Xtend IVR 3.0' and 'Xtend IVR 3.0 Developer Edition'. You can run the Xtend IVR runtime or the Xtend IVR Developer Edition by double clicking on the appropriate desktop icon.
4. Why do I get the error message 'HASP HL Key not found'?
You usually get this error message if you try to run the Standard Edition Xtend IVR runtime without plugging in the USB dongle. By default, when you install Xtend IVR Standard Edition, the drivers for the dongle are automatically installed. In case you have re-installed the Operating System, please re-install the Xtend IVR Standard Edition also.
5. When do you get an error message as 'HASP HL Key feature not found'?
This error message is obtained when the HASP HL Key connected to the USB port of the computer does not have license to run Xtend IVR.
6. How many telephone lines does Xtend IVR support?
At present, Xtend IVR has a maximum supported limit of 4000 telephone lines on a single machine. This is an artificial limit imposed primarily for ease of testing the database support, language stability and the load factor. This limit will be increased in the future. If more than 4000 telephone lines are required to be supported, it is recommended that multiple machines be used.
7. Does Xtend IVR support Text-to-Speech Engines?
Xtend IVR supports any telephony compatible Text-to-Speech Engine that supports the Speech API (SAPI 4.x & 5.x) and provides a 16 bit, 8 KHz waveform output. Xtend IVR has been tested with the Microsoft TTS Engines as well as with the TTS Engines available from Lernout & Hauspie (L & H).

The voice devices supported by Xtend IVR include PIKA, Ocha, Synway, Donjin, SIP, NMS, Diva Server, Ai-Logix, H.323, Dialogic, TAPI, Sangoma etc. Additional voice devices are being supported on an on-going basis, depending on customer requests and device availability.
11. Which is the latest version of Xtend IVR?
Xtend IVR 3.0 is the latest version of Xtend IVR.
12. Is speech recognition possible in Xtend IVR?
Yes, speech recognition is possible in Xtend IVR. All Speech API 5.x engines are supported by Xtend IVR for speech recognition. The ability to dynamically create and load multiple recognition grammars is supported to perform speech cut-through on complete recognition of sentence, on recognition of the first word and in presence of speech.
13. Will Xtend IVR detect pulse and tone keystrokes?
Xtend IVR accomplishes tone and pulse detection via the telephony voice device API. If the voice device supports this capability, then Xtend IVR will support it. Note: Voice Modems do not support pulse detection capability.
14. Does Xtend IVR support analog and digital lines?
Yes, Xtend IVR supports both analog and digital lines. For digital lines, you need a voice card that supports the specific protocol provided in the E1/T1 connection. Note: All digital protocols may not be supported by all voice cards.
15. Is database access possible in Xtend IVR?
Yes, database access is supported via the DB plugin which supports ADO or ODBC. Full-fledged examples are provided in the Developer Edition that illustrate how to achieve this.
16. Is it possible to play and record wave files simultaneously in Xtend IVR?
If the hardware is half-duplex, then Xtend IVR will not be able to simultaneously play or record wave files. For example, the D/4 PCI UF card from Dialogic is a half-duplex card. In most cases, Xtend IVR automatically determines if the voice card is full-duplex or not and will function correctly.
17. Do you need a sound card to run Xtend IVR?
Xtend IVR includes a development environment that utilises the sound card to simulate a voice device. This enables the developer to create and test an IVR using a multimedia capable PC. The runtime does not require the sound card.
18. What is the recommended sampling rate for wave files?
The recommended sampling rate for wave files is 8 KHz, 16 bit and mono.
